Guten Morgen! It's 46 degrees Fahrenheit and the clouds are beginning to break up. The sun comes out every chance it gets, and when it does, it's glorious.
On one of my town walks, I stopped in at one of the Weinachtsmarkts and enjoyed a mug of Glühwein at one of the stand-up (vs. sitting down) tables nearby. I didn't keep this mug, but returned it for my Pfand of 2 Euros. I really am trying to keep clutter out of my life. The warm drink was really welcome as it was below freezing that day.
I think there are 4 or 5 different Weinachtsmarkts in Regensburg. Next week I am hoping to go to Nürnberg to a St. Nicholas (on the Old Calendar) Liturgy and then to the Weinachtsmarkt there. It is said that the first one was in Nürnberg, which is just one hour north on the regional train. We have a subscription to the Deutschland Ticket, which for 49 Euros a month, we have unlimited rides on anything in the country, except the express train. The pass is on the phone, so no need to mess with tickets.
This photo is of St. Peter's Cathedral from the far side of the Old Stone Bridge, taken the night we went to the Weinachtsmarkt with people from church.Just before we went out that night, I was watching the German version of Cinderella. I didn't get to finish it, but I had read that version in German class in college, and had recently re-read it. I can tell you the German version isn't Disney! It's actually pretty grim, which makes me wonder that it isn't an accident that the word "grim" sounds like it is derived from the Brothers Grimm. The movie was following the German version very closely, and I was curious to see if the movie would actually portray the step-sisters cutting off parts of their feet to make the glass slipper fit, or if in the end the pigeons would peck their eyes out. I prefer the version, Disney or not, where Cinderella forgives her step-sisters, and they aren't maimed.
Until next time...

I’m still so excited for you! I’m enjoying your journey with you thru your blog! I wish I understood what some things meant. Like the money. Sounds complicated. You’re so quiet to learn. Of course you’ve resurrected it ahead. Plus studded in college. We have snow, as well as crazy temperatures. Up and down. Zoe comes home Sunday and Nigel on the 27th. I’m having another quiet Christmas Day. But feeling blessed. Love you! Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
